Oftentimes when people hear of link building they assume that it is a simple process that they can easily complete themselves. After all, how hard can it really be to travel the web and place links on websites? Well, if you are not yet firmly grounded in the principles of SEO link building can be much more challenging then it seemed at first. To help you out, here are a few tips that will help direct you in the right path.
Stay on topic
It is easy to get carried away and want to link to very website that offers you a place to put your link. However, take this too far and it is known as spamming which will cause your rank to drop faster than brick. Choose to post your links only on websites that are related to your topic and you will fare much better.
Keep building
The internet updates itself daily as a major source of information, thus time is of essence in everything you do on the Internet. If you slack off for a few months all of your links will be considered old in the Internet time frame, so keep posting current links and avoid old websites at all costs. Additionally, old websites are considered obsolete with low ranks, so a link to this type of website is virtually useless.
Stay low key
Any website that allows you to comment with your link hyperlinked to your user name or post is much better than blatantly posting your link. Why? It does not look as if you visit was just for the link giving you a stronger sense of authority. Always the better way to go and there is no mistaking your links for spam messages causing their deletion from a website.
