1. Social networking:  Join the stream

Register yourself on various social networking websites available such as Orkut, twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook. Literally, there are hundreds of social networking websites on the Internet from which you can choose your favorite one.

Create your complete profile and insert your picture. Uploading your picture is important, because users must be aware of the person with whom they are interacting with. Remember, if you’re new, then you might need to spend a lot of time for researching about the affiliate marketing strategies.

2. Begin your work slowly and steadily

Don’t just randomly start putting your affiliate links on the social networking websites. Because of this, you could be identified as a spammer and will be blocked from the network. Slowly start your social campaign, and after that begin interacting with the users on the network. Try to add friends and followers.

3. Add value

You will begin to achieve influence as soon as you have friends and followers added to your network. Social networking websites like Orkut, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and other similar social networking websites thrive on information. You should get attached and involved with your friends and followers on these social networks. You should add original, valuable and relevant content and by doing this you will automatically generate reputation and authenticity.

4. Schedule your Link In information

If your affiliate links are blatant, than perhaps they are not going to look in a very good light. Placing your affiliate links in blog posts or articles is the best way to generate affiliate commission, by using social media. By this way, people will understand that you are not just keen on earning money, but you are also sharing your information and knowledge with them.

5. Voting

Participate in voting, if possible. Many social media networking websites allow their users to vote. If you are submitting the link of a website, then other people may vote your submission. Obviously, you are looking for more up votes by which your submission and your ranking will boost.

4. Be regular

A social networker should not be like a hit and run networker, nobody appreciates this. The fastest way to make you irrelevant is to associate with some network, participate in this, then disappear, and then come back again after a few weeks or months later. This will wash out all your authenticity, reputation and credibility. If you are disappearing very frequently than the numbers of your followers will surely go down.

Some people thought that signing up in social networking sites, putting avatars and inviting tons of friends will make them popular but they obviously aren’t. I noticed some small business names who engage in social media often do this and just putting 1 or 2 updates every month just to let everyone know they’re still there. Their website may gain a lot of traffic when they first started this but eventually decreases after a week or 2 after social media signup. There are also companies that does a great job in this field as they post not only updates but interesting content regularly making people want to checkout their social media page or website almost everyday. Making people “anxious” on what’s going to be the next… or new…. or anything similar.
