Many people have heard the term joint venture and many more know how the concept applies in the real world. However, most people are unaware of how joint venture marketing can help improve their businesses in the virtual world. In actuality, a joint venture formed in the online community can lead to drastic benefits for your company and for your sales if you take the time to investigate solid partners and invest in one that has the same principles and product lines as yours.

How a joint venture works

How a joint venture works

The idea of a joint venture is simple: two businesses form a partnership in which both companies benefit from promotion and marketing efforts of the other. For instance, if you own a small business that specializes in selling items you may consider partnering or selling your product line through eBay.

Although eBay fronts the cost of featuring your items on their website, you benefit by reaching a wider audience of consumers and eBay benefits by taking a percentage of your sale. The beauty of this is that you can attract customers to visit your store directly next time if they had a pleasant transaction and thus begin to grow your consumer base.

Other joint ventures include two similar blogs that decide to form a partnership and direct others to visit each other’s websites. In return, both blogs receive a higher amount of traffic which leads to increased ad revenues for each blogger without costing either blogger more in advertising money.

Yet another example of a joint venture is a small parts reseller that decides to partner with a large auto shop online. The large auto shop receives a large amount of traffic and business already, but offers referrals to the smaller business which is advertised on the web page in exchange for a commission. Once again both sides benefit from the joint venture and the smaller business is able to build their customer base much more rapidly than if they had simply launched a marketing campaign.

These are just a few of the examples of how a joint venture can help increase traffic to your webpage and thus help you generate a healthy customer list, but following the same principles there are an unlimited amount of ways that joint venture marketing can improve your business.
